Guided walk Chinatown

Discover this special area of Amsterdam with a guide and learn about the history and culture of the oldest Chinese district of the European mainland. This walk takes place around de Nieuwmarkt and de Zeedijk; which together form Chinatown Amsterdam. You get a look behind the scenes in one of the most unique neighborhoods in the world; nowhere else in the world can you find a Chinatown, where besides the Chinese population group all kinds of other nationalities are located.

The walk leads past the Buddhist Temple and the largest Chinese department store in Europe, Toko Dun Yong. Get to know the Chinese culture and mentality, the Chinese holidays (and how they are celebrated in Amsterdam) and the typical Chinese entrepreneurship. In addition, the guide will tell about the time when the first Chinese people came to Amsterdam and about the Dutch-Chinese street name signs - and what poetic names the Chinese have for the Amsterdam streets.

Customized guided walk

You can book the walk at a date and time that suits you best. We have a wide range of different guides, each with their own specialization. So if you have any special wishes or prefer to have the tour in a certain language, please let us know. We ensure that your group gets the guide that suits your needs. The walks are suitable for both small and large groups; an extra guide will be used for groups of more than 15 people.

More Chinatown? We are happy to arrange a tailor-made program including a guided tour in the Buddhist Temple, meditation session in the prayer room, guided tour in Chinatown with a specialized guide and a tasty dinner with tasting menu at one of the city's best Chinese restaurant of the city.
