Het Karbeel
Restaurant Het Karbeel is located at Warmoesstraat 16 in Amsterdam. The restaurant has been in business since 1977 and is housed in a beautiful historic building dating back to 1534. In addition to its long history, stunning location, and the delicious cheese fondues for which Het Karbeel is renowned, it is also a family-run business that the owners take great pride in.
Cheese fondue and Dutch classics
The menu features no fewer than seven different cheese fondues. Options range from a classic Swiss fondue made with Gruyère and Emmental and the house specialty: the 'Karbeel' cheese fondue (blended with delicious Bleu d’Auvergne and topped with a homemade tapenade of sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, and olives), to the best-selling truffle cheese fondue.
In addition to the renowned cheese fondues, the menu offers various classic Dutch restaurant dishes with a French twist, such as steak with pepper sauce, spare ribs and prawns, Crêpe Suzette, and Dame Blanche.
Groups at Het Karbeel
Restaurant Het Karbeel is one of our favorites for a running dinner for groups of 10 or more. Its central location in the historic city center makes it the perfect place to pause or finish guided walking tours or canal cruises. The efficient service and professional kitchen ensure the evening runs smoothly—exactly what you want when visiting with a (large) group.
